Self centering lathe chucks

Also known as universal chucks or scroll chucks are the most popular chucks in lathe machining. They can be equipped with 3 jaws for gripping round parts 2 jaws for rectangular parts or 4 jaws for square parts or even more jaws for other types of parts with symmetrical or polygonal profiles or thin wall round parts.

The self-centering capability of this type of chuck is within an acceptable tolerance range. The best machining tolerance can be achieved if all the machining operations on the part is done in one clamping.
