The Carbide thread milling tool can cut the internal or external thread by the circular ramp of a rotating thread mill. The thread pitch is produced by the sidelong movement of one rotation.

One thread mill can be used for various diameters with the same pitch size. As an example, 6 x 1mm pitch thread mill can cut 8 x 1, 10 x 1, 12 x 1, 14 x 1mm .. etc.  of different variety of materials, Right- Hand or Left-Hand threads.

Thread milling process is more accurate and precise way to create a thread as the depth of thread can be precisely controlled.

 

Advantages of Thread Milling rather than Tapping

  • One Thread Mill for through/blind hole and right/left thread
  • One Thread Mill for different range of threads as long as the pitch is the same
  • Pitch diameter is controlled by CNC offset to achieve much better finish
  • Thread can be produced to the bottom of a blind hole
  • Thread tolerance can be adjusted
  • First choice for thin-walled workpieces
  • as the diameter of the tools is smaller than the hole diameter, the cheap control and removal is better and safer
  • Easy threading of hard to cut materials
  • Thread Mill has longer tool life due to solid Carbide substrate rather than HSS
