Milling Inserts

Most of the complicated metal products are machined by Milling Inserts. They are generally made of Tungsten Carbide and designed to withstand the high temperature and high speed. Thanks to the high performance substrate and the new PVD coating technology, the Milling Inserts can cut most of the materials such as Steel, Stainless Steel, Cast Iron, High Resistant material such as Titanium, Inconel, non-Ferrous material such as Aluminum, Copper, Brass, Plastic.
Some feature that should be considered when buying milling inserts are Geometry(shape), Radius and Grade.

Some feature that should be considered when ordering Milling Inserts:
Geometry(shape), Radius and Grade.

In fact, machinists would prefer to use a multi grade milling inserts which can machine a vast range of materials. This might work with prototyping but in mass production where time plays the main role, you will need to choose the right grade to get a better performance where time is crucial.

Pretty much all Inserts manufacturers have an ISO grade chart where they compare their proprietary grades with ISO grades.

The higher the grade the higher the toughness and the lower the wear resistance. The higher the wear resistance the higher the speed and the lower the toughness.
